Hawkesbury/Nepean Bass Catch The Hawkesbury/Nepean Bass catch was the very first Bass catch implemented way back in October 1988 when DPI Fisheries scientists with Bass Sydney members figured that it would be a good way of collecting data on the Bass fishery, as well as good excuse for both groups getting together for a weekends fishing. The idea soon spread to the Hunter Native Fish club that started their own Bass catch on the Williams River the very next year. The weekend is run as an event to collect data, not as a competition so there are no prizes given away, which makes for a much more relaxing weekend. DPI Fisheries are still today very much interested in the data collected from this event as it gives a very good idea of fish numbers and movements as well as recruitment to the upper reaches. To register your interest in fishing this event please fill in the registration form and send it back to us. This year the Bass Catch will be held on February 20-21, 2010.
